Using advanced laser cutting technology I have constructed a weaving tool of utmost portability and simplicity. With these simple weaving units we will make colorful wool and cotton cloth together. I plan to present these modern ancient marvels to one and all, offering both the product and the process for FREE. Each unit consists of two pieces of laser-cut acrylic. 144 threads pass through holes in one of the plastic forms, forming the warp of the fabric to be woven. The threads extend from the wall or some other anchor, through the clear acrylic weaving-implement to a bar that can be strapped to the participant, whose body completes the mechanism. The second piece of acrylic acts doubly as shuttle and beating sword. Simple instructional diagrams describe the loom’s use. As a combination of fairly intuitive weaving tools from many cultures it should prove a simple and satisfying activity.
