Created for The Exhibition Formerly Known as Passengers: Stowaways at the Wattis Institute of Contemporary Art
The Wattis' Passengers series was a evolving exhibition in which each month one artist left the show and a new artist was added. After the first year, no new artists were added and the number of artists progressively diminished ending with a solo show by Aurélien Froment. This piece for Stowaways consisted of a single graphite line that circumnavigated the space of the upstairs gallery. The piece remained largely invisible by staying near the floor and corners of the gallery's walls. Among other things, this piece embodied the way each viewing of Passengers was only a fragment of the total experience. One could view the whole of this work, but could only ever see a fragment from any location; the rest of it remaining invisible in the distance.
