Project 7 was an artist project series that I hosted in my Berkeley studio (number 7) from 2007 through 2009. It brought the flux of artistic practice into discursive visibility by presenting projects that bridged the fluidity of the studio and the stasis of the gallery. The invited artists created projects in which their process would be as important as anything produced. The goal was to present work that questioned the distinction between artworks and the ongoing actions that produce them--to erase the division between art products and art labor.
