K.E.B.M
Produced for the 2005 Independent School of Art Black Market Auction, this project forged a work by Kota Ezawa.

I liked the idea of forging work by someone I knew personally and work that itself engaged appropriation, reproduction, and questions of authenticity. The work that I duplicated was History of Photography Remix.

Of Kota's 20 images, I tracked down digital versions of nine dense enough to print slides from. This left me 11 to fabricate. Not knowing which iconic images were missing, I selected 11 iconic photographs and set about reworking them. My understanding of Kota's process was intuited and I have never asked him how much similarity it bears to his own.

Once completed my 11 images were added to the 9 I had. The 20 images were printed as slides, placed in a carousel, displayed as a slide show, and auctioned off.
