Moire 91207X2 (twin)
2007
digital projection
dimensions variable
Moiré 91207X2 (twin) can exist as either a digital projection or a monitor based digital image. The exact dimensions of the work vary from iteration to iteration depending on the particulars of the space and the particular resolution and/or size of the equipment used.

One of the twin images is a static documentation of a moiré, an interference pattern produced by the interaction of grids mismatched in either orientation or scale. The other is the base image that was used to produce the documented moiré.

The scale and resolution of the double image is calibrated to the device presenting it such that the moiré documented in the one image is actively created in the other image through the interaction between the image and the grid structure of the device hosting it. The “living” moiré and its documented twin simultaneously exist side by side and one on top of the other; the image of the documented moiré actively producing an identical moiré indistinguishably layered exactly over the one previously captured.
